THE BESPOKE PROCESS
I. SIZE
The process begins by taking precise measurements of your head to determine the correct hat size. This step ensures comfort and stability, laying the foundation for a truly personalized fit.
not every hat is right for every face, but there is a right hat for every face
II. SHAPE
Using a traditional tool called a conformateur, I capture the unique shape of your head, not just its circumference. Because no two heads are exactly alike, this remarkable tool allows me to create a hat that follows your individual contours for exceptional comfort and a truly bespoke fit.
III. PROPORTION
To guide crown selection, I measure the length of the face from the center of the eyebrows to the tip of the chin. Using this measurement as a reference, I recommend crown heights of approximately 60-80% to create balance and harmony in the overall silhouette.
IV. FORMATION
Drawing from the measurements from the previous steps, I hand-carve a wooden block shaped to the exact dimensions and contours of your head. This bespoke block becomes the foundational tool I use throughout the hat-making process. Once your hat is complete, the block is yours to keep- a functional custom piece designed to help preserve the shape of your hat when it’s not being worn.
